Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. John L. Mica (R-Flagler County) announced today that the Department of Health and Human Services released $792,000 in federal funds to the Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation (SMAF) for the construction of a new multi-use building that will support the completed 100-bed Vince Carter Sanctuary residential treatment facility in Bunnell, Florida.? Congressman Mica helped secure these funds as part of the FY2010 appropriations process.

“The Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation does a remarkable job of treating addictions, not only in Flagler County but also though out the Southeast Region,” said Rep. Mica.? “This funding will allow SMAF to improve their treatment capabilities and better serve our community.”

?The Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation is a non-profit substance abuse and rehabilitation organization, which offers care for addictions and delinquency rehabilitation including detoxification, day treatment, residential care and other programs.?

This new tranche of funding is in addition to the more than $250,000 in federal assistance that Rep. Mica previously secured for the project in Bunnell.? The support will enable SMAF to construct a 6,866 square-foot multi-use building to accommodate additional clinical, recreational and office needs for the 75 to 100 personnel required to operate the new treatment facility.
