Second Prescription Buy Back Program Scheduled

The Focus on Flagler Youth Coalition is once again partnering with CVS Pharmacy and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, to offer the community the opportunity to discard unwanted medications.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, residents will be able bring their unwanted prescription medications to one of six sites throughout Flagler County for disposal. In return, participants will receive a $5 gift card while supplies last.

This will be the second prescription buy back program for Flagler County.

“The program that we did in April was very well received,” said Chantell Waters, Director of the Focus on Flagler Youth Coalition. The program is being coordinated with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency. As part of this program, each of the six sites will be manned by law enforcement personnel as required by the DEA.

As a result, Flagler Beach and Bunnell Police Departments will be assigning an officer for the city sites and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will have a deputy stationed at the county sites.

“We are pleased to once again be working with the coalition on this. This is a great service for the community since many people are unsure what to do with unwanted medications,” said Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.

The drop off sites are: CVS Pharmacy, 292 Palm Coast Parkway NE, Palm Coast; CVS Pharmacy, 5151 Belle Terre Parkway, all in Palm Coast; CVS Pharmacy, State Road 100 in Flagler Beach; Tucker Insurance Agency, 1044 County Road 305; Vince Carter Sanctuary, 301 Justice Lane, Bunnell, and Harris Grocery, 1000 S. U.S. Highway 1, Bunnell.

There will be a public burn of all returned medication in the parking lot of the Sheriff’s Operations Center in Bunnell after the close of the program on Sept. 19.

More information may be obtained by contacting Ms. Waters at 386-597-2964.
