    Exclamation Oven in garage?

    Happy Holidays to all!!

Ok, I have a ridiculous question to ask an appliance guru! Our electric oven broke yesterday and we needed an quick fix for the holidays and purchased a used electric double oven. Here is the dilemma, we have no room for it until we get rid of the old dead one, so my husband had this WONDERFUL idea of putting the one we just purchased in the Garage by the AC unit!!!! I can't imagine that being ok?? Of course he knows everything and says it is ok to cook with this used oven while it is only inches away from the ac unit!!??? Is it me? Or is my husband crazy? I'm thinking that this is a freaking fire hazard!!!

i would be more concerned of it tipping over when opening the door. as long as the insulation is ok and the wiring was done correctly it should be ok, I would just move it at least a few feet from anything because of the heat that comes off of it.

It should be ok. I kept my old oven in the shop for powder coating. No issues.

If It has the appropriate electric hookup the only danger of fire is the cook Like George says the only concern is that it is stable and won't tip when opened. I have a convection Oven in the Garage for slow cooking and run the clean cycle on it when needed the outside just barely gets hot .

Now if the electrical is half assed you might have a serious issue I would pay very close attention to making that fool proof .

How long can it take to haul the old one out and stick the new one in its place? I move my appliances around all the time to clean under them. The house itself will probably stay cooler with the stove outside in the garage. You might start a new trend and we can all put our stoves in the garage. Might be fun cooking out there.

As long as Barb isn't coming over to cook, you should be fine.

Yes, oven in the garage is a really great ideal. It doesn' heat your house up in the summer, and you have and extra oven when the hoildays come around, and you are bakeing the turkey or pies or cakes.

I guess the operative word here is "half Assed" ??? Yes...I love my husband dearly...but some of his handy work??? LOL And I guess I am super happy that I have a second oven in the garage so I can cook more...
