    Default Ants in Bottlebrush

I noticed an ant mound at the base of one of my bottle brushes. Not fire ants as they are much smaller.

Any ideas how to get rid of them without killing the bottle brush?

try near straight vinegar, in your pump up sprayer

Spray ( w/ a 1 or 2 gal. pump spray bottle) 'CYPER TC' really well at the base of each infested tree and out approx a foot around and spray up and down the trunk and branches. I do this regularly when a mount pops up and my lawn is at least as I can tell fire ant free and no signs of other ants or bugs either. This is an all around universal concentrate primarily used for termite control. I also do my own termite applications and I buy this by the case from a DoYourOwnPestControl.com site. Before doing this, I tried everything. Order the stuff and in time, you will be back in control. Does not hurt plants that I can see so far and I've been using it for about 10 years now. Very reasonably priced too. I was turned onto this stuff by a pest control employee. Shortly after I tried it and found how great and easy the application was, I fired him. :D I mix two gallons worth in a spray bottle and keep in on hand for when it's needed. The concentrate goes a long way and I prefer to add a few more ounces than needed. BTW, the ants will get this on their little feet and track it back to the nest and share with family and co workers :D If you need a link, I will find you the link. Have a joyful day.

You remember, he sprayed that all over when he was running miles up and down the beach with his wonder dog.

no worries of killing grass, just mulch around the brush.

How long did it take to count all those suckers to determine the percentage after the first application? Must have taken a very long time...

Seriously, glad that good came from CC poster helping another CC poster and that your bottlebrush tree is now ant-free.

Are the hurting anything? Boric acid and glycerin traps work Great if they move into structures or vehicles. otherwise if they are farming aphids look up into the bottle brush to control. Knowing what kind of ant is important some look for sugar and others fat either can be controlled with homemade Boroglycerine traps. Glycerin is my go to for aphid farmers but sugar water works too peanut butter can work well in the bark of the tree just use small amounts that wont be the target of squIRRELS ECT.. always use a solution of less than 2% in food base traps boric acid for bugs http://amzn.to/2oUCdVC

The concentrate that is useful for many antiseptic uses from food preservation to ear mites can be made with this recipe using food grade components
Use one part by weight boric acid to eight parts glycerine 1 ounce to a cup for a 12% Boro-glycerine COMPOUND
    food grade BORIC ACID

As you have seen ants on your bottle brush, be carefukl while using it. As it can even attack you while using that bottle brush. Ants are very social insects that live in communities that depend upon each of the members for its survival. In these communities or colonies, ants form underground nests comprised of chambers and interconnecting tunnels where they store food, lay eggs, and maintain nurseries. Ants can extend these nests in trees or within structures such as your home. Professionals like *************** are available in the Market for help. One can also try using the homemade spray that is been mentioned in the comments as that can also help.
