    Default Phone Number Lookup

Is there any site where you can go to get a FREE phone number Lookup? We are on
the Do Not Call but still get nuisance calls every day. HAve caller ID but that doesn't
give any info but the number. I am always curious to know more - where it came
    from.

Often those calls are coming from overseas where the "do not call" registry has no effect nor are they subject to it, plus the number showing on the caller ID can be programmed by them to look like a local call or that the call is coming from within the United States...sometimes it even shows your own phone number. I was getting calls showing that it was coming from my number...I called my carrier because I thought something got scrambled and they explained the above info to me. It is frustrating and aggravating to be sure.

If my phone does not recognize or identify the caller I shut down the ring, if no message is left I then block the caller. If I see a 1-386-503 6666 or some such I block them immediately. Local calls don't need a area code.

Beware, they do have devices that callers can enter any info on the screen that they want YOU to see on your end. IF they want you to see another number instead if theirs, they can enter it before calling. IF they want the call receiver to see 'Walt Disney' on their caller ID, then they can enter that. People will go to extremes to get their pathetic calls through. Call Blocking and DO NOT CALL are no good. IF a number is blocked, they will just input another number to get through. I have one of the best Caller ID blockers ever made but I put it away. It could easily handle 1000 blocked calls. You could easily enter any number or prefix of numbers to be blocked if you wanted to. You could enter '800' and all '800' numbers would be blocked. You could enter '386' and all number under that area code would be blocked. I thought of selling it since they don't make the device anymore and it is still highly sought after as one of the best. We have not used a hard-line for a long time cause we are on the go so much now. What you see on your caller ID really don't matter anymore unless you recognize a relative's number. Good luck with that. There is a phone number scam LOOK-UP on the internet and I will have to find the website again where you can see if ###'s have been black listed..
