    Palm Coast government does not control the Matanzas golf course property, which is now tied up in bankruptcy court. The city is not assured of controlling the property once hurdles are cleared.

    So the owners have up to 300 days to file documents and the process may take a year or longer. In the mean time, they received authorization to run their business and they have federal court protection. One of the owners told me years ago they have legal capital to burn. Just the other day, he told me it's full speed ahead with their plans. So, I asked what plans? He refused to say. The owners are schooling the city in legal tactics. It's hard to believe the city did not foresee this tactic. Personally, I think the owners will sell soon and they just got out of all those fines.

    Why would the city buy it in foreclosure. The last thing they need is another losing business.

    The city has indicated they plan on selling it to the highest bidder for development. They admit they have a close relationship with Jim Cullis and he would probably be the buyer. The owners claim the city is biased against them. They are probably right. Regardless, it is highly unlikely that it will be a course again. Shipley told me Landon will not allow that because it would compete with Palm Harbor. Besides, to bring that back as a course now would cost over $10 million. It will no doubt be residential regardless who buys it. For now, it's a nice capital loss for the owners. We were so disgusted with the whole mess, we sold our home on the "course".

    I find that a bit odd. If developed the cost of services both city and county will go up. I was always of the belief that residential development and the tax's it generated did not keep up with the cost in the long run.

    Perhaps if the city purchased it for open space for passive recreation. You don't have to develop every square foot of land.

    Believe me, they want it for homes. What people never understood was that even if it was a course again, it was laid out for fairway homes and more types of residences just like any other course. Cullis wanted to develop it as a water park surrounded by homes. The city wants the tax base, the developer has to pay for infrastructure, the real estate agents want commissions. The residents could have purchased the property for less than $200,000 several years ago. I was in the meeting with the former owners when the offer was made. We tried to get the money and residents together on the same page to no avail. Current owners have said, olive groves, vineyards and park with homes. They have stated over and over, no course, the cost is prohibitive to restore. When Cullis was trying to get the property, I suggested he buy it and donate it to the community for a park or course. He said no, not without his houses.

    Dr. Elaine Studnicki , Historian , Palm Coast Historical Society just contacted me. Confirmed is her 'Power Point' presentation for June 5th, 2018, 6:00 o'clock p.m. at the City Hall. She is hoping for a nice turnout so the populace is informed and also hopes for docents/ volunteers / contributors for many of the things planned.


    Maybe someone is interested in Holiday Decorations - for instance, we in the Levitt & I.T.T. Showcase Golf Course Neighborhood does this below. We support our Golf Club. Perhaps others in the *Four Sisters* Golf Clubs may want to do something similar for their Neighborhoods...or for their Communities, such as Shangri - La, The Fairways, The Palm Club, the Woodlands, etc.
    If so go up to Elaine and offer your ideas / suggestions/ contributions.
    We put these on all the areas within our Neighborhood:
